About Marcelo Gamito

With over 15 years of experience in internal audit (9 of those leading teams), I am a passionate and driven leader who strives to deliver high-quality and value-added services to my organization. Currently, I am the Internal Audit manager, reporting directly to the Chief Audit Executive at Nexa Resources, a global mining company with operations in Brazil and Peru. In this role, I am responsible for preparing, monitoring, and reporting the indicators related to internal audit (operational and forensic), preparation of pluri-annual Internal Audit Plans, overseeing the planning, execution, and reporting of financial, operational, and compliance audits, as well as the implementation of recommendations raised from Internal Audit projects. I have a strong background leading teams (internal and outsourced), also managing conflicts which arose during Internal Audit Projects. I also coordinate with external auditors, and senior management to ensure compliance with internal and external standards and regulations. I have extensive experience in audit methodology, internal audit project management, development of action plans to effectively mitigate identified risks, and risk management, which I developed in my previous roles at Nexa and PwC Brasil. I hold an MBA in internal audit from Coimbra Business School. Also, I am advanced in English and Spanish. I enjoy working with diverse and talented teams. I am also always eager to learn new skills while exploring new challenges.
