About Marcelo Jost

My academic background is a master's degree in organic chemistry with focus in organic synthesis. Throughout my career, not only a chemist but also as a Forensic Expert, I was always faced with complex problems for which I was urged to provide fast, accurate and reliable answers, normally under a time constrained and pressed environments. In my actual position, is my responsibility to do literature research in order to develop and apply new methods of solvent extraction and instrumental analysis in the medical implants field. After complex sample preparations, under DIN norms, I use chromatographic screening through GC-FID, GC-MS and GC-MS-MS, both in Headspace (HSGC) and normal injection (GC) techniques. For the MS techniques, I perform the MS spectral identification with the aid of MS libraries. I am directly responsible for creating and maintaining an extensive library of chemical compounds related to medical implants in order to improve the qualitative/quantitative methods in the laboratory. My work colleagues see me as someone that is very focused, that seeks a deep understanding of the techniques and that is very creative, structured, and organized in the work flow.
