About Marcelo Matos

Specialized in corporate communications and public relations, with experience in media relations and external communications. Since 2019 woking at the Comms team with Uber. From 2017 to 2019 I acted at the external communications department of Invepar, a private company that acts on the Brazilian mobility sector. Between 2015 and 2016 I have acted as the General Coordinator for Rio Media Center, the open media center for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Between 2014 and 2015, after moving to London, I was fully dedicated on a Master in International at King's College London in which the megaevents were the focus of my research. In 2013 and 2014, I have worked as the Head of Communications for 'Rio Eventos Especiais', a municipal public company that coordinated the actions of the FIFA World Cup Brazil in Rio de Janeiro. In early 2013 I have also worked for the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro during the FIFA Confederations Cup and World Youth Day. Previously, as a reporter, I emphasize the coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Rio +20 (UN Conference on Sustainable Development) in 2012, and the international congress Smart Cities Paris, in 2011. In 2017 I acted as an online volunteer for the United Nations in social media for a community in Tanzania, as well as also volunteering in the Public Information Office of Caritas, an organization that works with refugees in Rio de Janeiro.
