About Marcia Firesten

When I was about 7, a new baby sitter arrived. I thought she ruled the world by breaking the rules. She was beautiful, elegant and bohemian. I started putting together outfits discovering a way of expressing myself. It began something, that continued throughout my life~ finding ways to be creative though expression of style. Our family moved to New York from Rhode Island. This was a new world of fashion and sophistication shown to me by 11 year old girls who didn't climb trees or build fortresses. I grew up and pursued my love of culture. Became an actress, working in Theatre, Film and Television in New York, London and Los Angeles. Somewhere in the middle, I chose a new path, opening an apothecary with Jane Kennedy, whose original shop Palmetto in Santa Monica was the first of it’s kind. She was an innovator, bringing organic skincare to California long before any of us knew what that was. We opened the 2nd Palmetto in West Hollywood in the summer of 1998. I began to pursue another interest… jewels. Working with estate and couture jewelry at Doyle Gallery in New York, LA Phil Store in LA, and Willer in London. Like others in the fashion world, I became aware of Pippa Small. I met her at a trunk show at dosa, and had to own a piece of her work. My first Pippa Small ring is still a favorite in my collection. How I came to work with her is a complex, and magical story. I am very proud to be a part of her company and all she stands for. Creating in Afghanistan, Jordan, Myanmar, Chile, Kenya, Bolivia and other countries world wide. Her inspirational work as a humanitarian and her exquisite artesian sense of design continue to amaze me. We have worked together since 2008
