About Marcie H.

Ensuring any student who is experiencing homelessness is identified and enrolled in school immediately. I assist students in receiving all eligible services to facilitate student academic achievement. Creating awareness and guidance for school staff. Determining eligibility, enrollment and school selection, access to services such as food and transportation, working with parents, guardians, and unaccompanied youth. Removing barriers to full school participation; including extracurricular activities for students experiencing homelessness. Removing barriers to access education by providing clothing, hygiene supplies, school supplies, and assisting in setting up transportation. Passionate about repairing donated bikes for students to give them a sense of pride and transportation to get to school. I am able to connect students and families with community resources when they are experiencing a lack of a fixed, regular, or adequate night time residence. Connecting families to local shelters in emergency situations. Passionate about providing a voice for students and families who are often unseen as they try to navigate homelessness. In a world full of barriers and complicated avenues, my hope is to help families and students get the tools they need to get back on track while supporting the student and making sure homelessness does not affect their education.
