About Marcin Styszynski

I graduated from the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan where I obtained my MA in and then PhD in 2005. I finished a native elementary school in Algeria where I lived with my family during 1982-1987. I have been working as Assistant Professor and I was teaching different subjects such as Arabic language, Arabic rhetoric or Arabic diplomatic and media language. I had a chance to teach elementary, intermediate and advanced groups. I have conducted my research in different fields such as political and religious rhetoric, Islam, propaganda and media. Diplomatic missions in Egypt, Algeria and Saudi Arabia were also an advantage and a challenge for my career. I stayed in Egypt during the Arab Spring in 2011. I had a chance to observe complicated social and political events as well as a long transition process. Moreover, my stay in Algeria and travels to Sudan or Mali improved many skills regarding security issues as well as questions related to terrorism, jihadism and political warfare. In 2016 I started diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Oman. It was also a new challenge for me, especially in the context of Yemeni crisis and political or social changes in this region, including Saudi-Iranian rivalry and proxy wars.
