About Marco Anzures

The mind is like a parachute - it works best when it is open. I am an educator and coach who is intimately involved with his campus and community. My optimism and positivity, and energy come with me wherever I go and are present in all that I set out to do. I am student-centered in my approach to learning and the experiences of the students and student-athletes I work with help shape my outlook towards student success and equity. At my current college I am actively involved in professional development, analytics, curriculum, student learning, and equity through various roles on campus committees. I relish the opportunity to represent my department on campus and our college throughout the community at conferences and workshops. I am an avid volunteer in my community and relish the opportunity to give back. I co-founded a youth running nonprofit, 2nd Recess, with my wife and we have been introducing kids & their families to fun & fitness through running since 2011 - reaching nearly kids in that time. In addition, I have spent several years volunteering on the board of directors for the local USA Track & Field chapter and have served as board president, vice president, and general board member. Areas of interest for me include organizational leadership, working in teams, physical activity interventions for health & wellness, and creating environments for student success. Future career goals include stepping outside the classroom to coach teachers in promising practices for student engagement and success and possibly administration.
