About Marco Barbieri

I've been crazy into music since '77. In 2nd grade a schoolmate turned me onto KISS. It was an easy transition from comic books to rock stars and my life has never been the same. I found like-minded artists Rush, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Angel, AC/DC & Black Sabbath and then further influenced by the death of John Lennon becoming a Beatles fanatic and learning the classics (Stones, Bowie, Zeppelin, The Who, Hendrix). I continued focusing on hard rock/heavy metal and wanted to have a career in the business behind the music so I began networking, tape trading, street teaming (Poison, Flotsam & Jetsam) and attending UOP majoring in Ent Mgmt. In college I began managing bands THE HORDE OF TORMENT and EPIDEMIC and started a fanzine, NO GLAM FAGS, later ILL LITERATURE, a nationally distributed glosy metal magazine, until 2001. Over the years I also freelanced for Metal Maniacs, Creem, Screamer, Huh, Raygun, Rox, etc. Completing my studies I began at METAL BLADE Jan.'91 and for 5 years worked in Publicity/A+R working bands as Gwar, Goo Goo Dolls, Cannibal Corpse, Armored Saint and Fates Warning. In 1995 I went to CENTURY MEDIA. Within 6 months I was heading the label's US office spending12 years there overseeing all affairs and building the company to great prominance, in addition to NUCLEAR BLAST and distributed labels like Noise, Olympic, Liquor and Poker and InsideOut America. In 2007 I stepped down deciding to move back to Las Vegas to raise our son and be close to my parents and work in the family business (Real Estate, Investments, Property Mgmt). Not stepping away completely I started promoting local shows, including the annual DOOM IN JUNE fest and THRASHGIVING benefit. I also started managing bands again: WARBRINGER, BONDED BY BLOOD, EXMORTUS, HATCHET, DEMON LUNG and previously ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, PATHOLOGY and DECREPIT BIRTH. Jan. 2014 I was invited to return to CENTURY MEDIA as President and now go back and forth between Vegas and LA. I am happy to be back.
