About Marco Contadini

I am a Civil Engineer and Project Manager with international experience in Italy, Russia, Turkey, and Latin America. Throughout my career, I’ve coordinated complex multidisciplinary teams and worked closely with institutions, private partners, and local communities. After years of freelance work and public administration roles with Roma Capitale, I’ve increasingly focused on humanitarian cooperation and social inclusion, applying engineering and management skills to projects that empower people and rebuild communities. My ambition is to devote my professional path to humanitarian work, combining technical expertise with empathy, collaboration, and a strong sense of purpose. In 2025, I collaborated with one of the leading human rights movements, contributing — in an external role to the Executive Board — to the Global March to Gaza and later to the Global Sumud Flotilla organization and mission. In 2014, for the NGO IBO Italia and the non-profit Amici di Huaycan, I worked in a Lima favela with the local community to design an after-school center for children. I later built international partnerships for the project’s implementation, involving the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow), which applied its innovative “Construction Therapy” method. In 2015, I founded a Cultural Association for the redevelopment of degraded urban areas into social and community centers. As founder and head of the Cyclability Office of Roma Capitale, I oversaw the planning, design, and implementation of cycling infrastructure and services in Rome. My approach emphasized listening and public participation, working with civic movements and the Ministry of Justice on sustainable mobility and reintegration programs for former inmates. Before joining Roma Capitale, I managed over 15 infrastructure projects, including coordination in Ukraine for the Western Border–Kyiv Highway feasibility study (SPEA Ingegneria Europea – S.T.I.P.E.), financed by the EBRD, leading a 40-person team. I was also responsible in Guayaquil, Ecuador, for mobility studies for the Carmen and Santa Ana Hills Tunnel project, managing 60 local staff. Passionate about travel, wilderness exploration, freeride skiing, windsurfing, and diving, I helped introduce extreme windsurfing from Hawaii to Italy in the 1980s. I am a Kitesurf Assistant Instructor, Divemaster, and hold an unrestricted nautical license.
