About Marco Maurizi

Marco Maurizi (1994) is a PhD Candidate in "Documentation studies, Linguistics, and cycle - Curriculum A:"Theory of Languages and Linguistic Education") at Sapienza, University of Rome. Between 2011 and 2015, concurrently with his high school studies, he actively collaborated with the Social Promotion Association "Eutopia," holding various leadership roles (Communication Manager, Treasurer, Project Manager, and Youth Worker). In 2013, he conceived, wrote, and managed the youth exchange program "The Whole Europe Through a Picture," funded by the former Youth in Action program (now Erasmus+). Since 2013, his academic interests have primarily centered on the field of Philosophy of Language, with a particular focus on the history of linguistic theories of the last century. Building on these interests, his Bachelor's thesis in 2016 was titled "Gramsci e i problemi dell'unificazione linguistica"("Gramsci and the Problems of Linguistic Unification"), examining linguistic policies in post-unification Italy and post-revolutionary Russia through the lens of Antonio Gramsci's reflections. This work was followed, in 2019, by the development of his Master's thesis titled "Giovanni Nencioni, Giacomo Devoto e l'istituzionalismo linguistico (1946-1973)"("Giovanni Nencioni, Giacomo Devoto, and Linguistic Institutionalism [1946 - 1973]"), exploring the birth, developments, and peculiarities of the linguistic current of the same name, in its fundamental dialogue with Crocian culture in the first half of the 20th century.
