Background

About Marco Romagna

I am a criminologist and expert in cyber criminality and related criminal law and I am a PhD candidate at Leiden University, researching hacktivism and hacktivists’ behaviours, motivations and modus operandi. I am interested in the developments of cyber space and new technologies and my area of expertise embraces cybercrime and cyber threats, cyber security, criminology, criminal law, cyber law and law of new technologies. I focused my research activities on cyber criminality and cyber security mainly considering the role played by social-criminological and psychological elements that contribute to influence cyber space and human behaviours. My studies have always had a wide view on the transnational dimension in order to work out possible improvements through a comparative approach on different legal and criminal justice systems. I strongly believe in the importance of a multicultural and multidisciplinary approach to solve problems and find new paths. I like working in a team and I always try to be proactive, dynamic and innovative. I believe that without new challenges a person cannot really grow, so I am open to new projects in which I can contribute to the general scientific and practical development of society, learn new things and improve my skills. I always follow with interest the progress of new technologies that can improve the quality of our life and of the environment, because I think they represent the present and the future.
