About Marco Serale

Marco Serale graduated from the University of Turin (UNITO) in 2005 as a Biomedical Laboratory Technician. He later obtained a master in "Coordination of Health Professions" and another one in "Epidemiology and Diagnosis of Health Care Acquired Infection". Since 2010, he has been working in the national healthcare system, initially at the Piedmont Zooprophylactic Institute, where he focused on zoonoses and vector-borne diseases. Later, he joined a hospital analysis laboratory. Now he works at Department of Hygiene and Public Health (S.I.S.P. In 2015, he received certification as an Operator, Detector, and Decontaminator for CBRNe (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and explosive) incidents from the Interforce Military School in Rieti. From there, he embarked on a career as a consultant and analyst on Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) for various organizations, associations, and think tanks. During the COVID-19 emergency, he served as a consultant for the Piedmont Region, providing expertise in biosafety and analyzing epidemic spread scenarios. Within the Health Department, he offers consultancy on CBRNe matters, monitors emerging and reemerging diseases, and is a member of the National Epidemic Intelligence Network. In 2022, he was one of the core members responsible for drafting the Regional Plan for Response to Radiological and Nuclear Events (PERN).
