About Marcos Prado

I was born and raised in Fortaleza, a coastal city in the northeast of Brazil. In I arrived in Sydney to continue my evergreen education in architecture - Sydney Uni Masters in Design Science. A few years later I became an Australian Citizen. I am also a proud father of a 2 year old girl and, despite all the inevitable focus on parks, toys and ABC for Kids, I do possess a sane passion for arts of all kinds. That said, theatre in particular, and all its subjects and matters, do take a considerable amount of space on my bookshelves. After performing for 5 years I became an enthusiastic observer of theatre history and design, such appreciation lead me to teach the subject in Brazil and Australia (Sydney Uni CCE). After graduation, early 1997, I shared the responsibilities of a small architectural office in Brazil. The work experience in Fortaleza was diverse, including architectural & interior design projects for houses, apartments, offices and hotels. Late in I joined Planning Workshop Australia, located in the Sydney CBD. The understanding of planning, design controls, applications, environmental plans and legal background was a much needed knowledge in my early years in Australia. With that understanding in hand, I joined Burtenshaw Scoufis Architecture (BSA) mid 2003 to return to my architectural and interior designer roles. At BSA, a small and yet medium office at times, we developed a considerable number of residential and institutional projects. My roles varied from project architect to team supervisor and office administrator. In 2008 I successfully registered with the NSW Architects Board (now with the WA Architects Board – Registration Number 2543). I am currently living with my family in Perth, beautiful Western Australia. Since late 2011 I have been directing my own small practice called OPUS PRIMA Architecture, focusing in all kinds of residential, commercial and institutional projects.
