About Marcus Ang
I have been in SMU since 2012. I teach in the Undergraduate program and cover several courses such as Decision Analysis, Service Processes and Introduction to Business Analytics. I also teach in the Masters in Management Program and the SMU Executive Development Program. My teaching and research interests are in inventory management, stochastic models, business analytics and application of Operations Research Techniques on business-related problems.I currently serve as the Academic Director of the International Trading Institute (ITI) at SMU, where I work closely with industry partners to bridge education, research, and talent development in the maritime and trading sectors.For students interested in exploring these fields, ITI@SMU oversees two key specializations at SMU:• International Trading Track (ITT) – designed for students keen to understand global commodity trading, risk management, and commercial decision-making.• Maritime Business & Operations Track (MBOT) – focused on the operational and technological aspects of the maritime ecosystem.Both tracks offer experiential learning opportunities, industry projects, and strong pathways into rewarding careers across trading, maritime, and supply chain–related roles.
