About Marcus Baldo

After obtaining an M.D. degree from the School of Medicine, USP (1985) and a Bachelor's degree in physics from the Physics Institute, USP (1989), I pursued a PhD in neurophysiology from the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB), USP (1990), followed by a post-doctoral training in visual psychophysics, University of California at Berkeley (UCB) from 1993 to1995. I have been teaching physiology since 1988 at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, ICB-USP, and as an Associate Professor since 2004. I served as President of the Brazilian Society for Neuroscience (SBNeC) from 2008 to 2010, as well as General Secretary of the Federation of Neuroscience Societies in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Iberian Peninsula (FALAN) from 2009 to 2011. Besides the international experience at UCB, I took a sabbatical period as an Academic Visitor to the Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford, UK, from 2013 to 2016. My current teaching activities include, besides physiology, topics in neuroscience, biophysics, statistics, and the scientific method. In 2019 I conceived and was one of the founders of the Center for Strategies on Experimental Planning and Reproducibility (NEPER), at ICB-USP, being its coordinator from 2021 to 2024. As I consultant, I have experience in cognitive neuroscience, experimental planning and design, research methods and data analysis.
