About Marcus Kohnstam

I am currently working at at Massachusetts Eye & Ear filling two roles; an Ophthalmic Medical Scribe, working with an Ophthalmologist who specializes in the management of ocular Graft-versus-Host and other dry eye diseases, and Ophthalmic Technician, where I triage and evaluate patients before seeing the physician, as well as perform diagnostic testing. I have previously worked as a Technician/Secretary in Cooley Dickinson Hospital's Emergency Department, as well as having participated in a semester of Wilderness Medicine with Aerie Backcountry Medicine where I completed my EMT treaining. These experiences have trained me to be confident in treating patients with minimal resources and to actively anticipate the needs of the patient in any environment. My experiences working in clinics in Nicaragua and Costa Rica in addition to daily interactions with Spanish-speaking populations in my current roles, have given me the confidence and vocabulary to facilitate effective communication in a medical environment. I am actively pursuing my goal of becoming a physician by enrolling the Harvard Extension School's Premedical Post-Baccalaureate program, in addition to working full-time at Mass Eye & Ear.
