Prior roles include: • Leading the WICET coal terminal construction and operational start up (a $3b project). • Leading the turn around of Aurizon’s Coal Freight business (with Revenue of ~$2Bn, a ~$3Bn balance sheet and approx. employees) • Leading a start up project for Pacific National’s new freight rail operations in Qld and then running the business (to new Australian performance benchmarks in safety, operational effectiveness, customer service and return on capital employed) • Leading Brambles (then Patrick’s) Queensland business which was a speciality warehousing and distribution business. Marcus has been consistent in delivering results. His approach involves taking the time to develop business strategy and break it down into measurable execution plans. Business reforms have included: organisational restructures; culture change and process changes; the commercialisation of businesses; and the implementation of appropriate governance frameworks. Safety improvement has been a key achievement throughout. Prior to his industrial career, Marcus was an Army Officer having graduated from the Royal Military College, Duntroon. Professional development has included significant education and training including an MBA and the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program (AMP 182).
