About Marcus Mildenberger

My academic training and expertise largely focus on the history of U.S. foreign policy, foreign relations, and military intervention. At the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), I help connect members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and their staffs with information and analysis on a wide range of foreign policy issues. CFR is a nonpartisan think tank, national membership organization, and publisher that seeks to promote a better understanding of American foreign policy and the United States' role in the world. My opinions and posts are not a reflection of CFR’s views or institutional positions. I have a master's degree in International Affairs, specializing in U.S. Foreign Policy and National Security from American University’s School of International Service. My research focused on U.S. foreign policy and military operations in the Middle East. I have a bachelor's degree in Political Science, magna cum laude, and a minor in International Security and Conflict Resolution (ISCOR) from San Diego State University. Member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and Pi Sigma Alpha.
