About Marcus Oborn
Marcus Oborn is an Australian actor, voice actor, vocal coach, and theatre director and producer. Marcus trained as an actor at the University of Southern Queensland, in the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre/Acting), graduating in 2013. Since then Marcus has trained under the guidance of legendary Hollywood acting coach Larry Moss, British theatre stalwart Mike Alfreds, and world authority on actors vocal practices Professor Patsy Rodenburg OBE, all through 16th Street Actors Studio, Melbourne. In 2019, Marcus successfully applied for a position in the prestigious Patsy Rodenburg Academy, New York, where he trains under the direct tutelage of Professor Rodenburg as a Patsy Rodenburg Associate. Upon completion of his training in July 2022, Marcus will be one of fifty certified practitioners globally, and the only one on the East Coast of Australia. In recognition of his growing achievements as a vocal coach, Marcus received a grant from the highly competitive Australia Council for the Arts Individuals Fund, with the funds received supporting his position in the Patsy Rodenburg Academy. Marcus is represented by Kubler Auckland Management for his acting with and has worked across metropolitan and regional South East Queensland for companies including Disney, NBC, Seven Bucks Productions founded by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Opera Queensland, The Queensland Music Festival, Playlab, MetroArts, The Hive Collective, Room to Play Independent Theatre, Big Scary Animal and Empire Theatres. Marcus has voiced national campaigns for a broad range of clients across Australia, and is a member of BrisVO, Brisbane’s elite voice over community. Marcus’ work spans across television, radio and cinema advertising, animations, e-learning materials and documentary narration. Clients include Dairy Farmers, Warner Bros, Movie World, Master Builders Queensland, Personalised Plates Queensland, TMGM, Containers for Change & FijiKAVA. Marcus has also directed a string of successful productions, including MOTH by Declan Greene (funded by Arts Queensland), the Australian premiere of Buckets by Adam Barnard, Oedipus by Sophocles, translated by Kenneth McLeish, The Mercy Seat by Neil LaBute, and a sold out season of The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Marcus’ work as a Voice and Text Coach extended into the tertiary sector, teaching voice into the Bachelor of Creative Arts and Bachelor of Theatre at the University of Southern Queensland since 2017. In 2021, Marcus commenced doctoral studies in the Doctor of Creative Arts program offered at the University of Southern Queensland.
