This has developed my understanding of the SME landscape across a number of industries and has allowed me to fully appreciate the challenges, risks and opportunities affecting small businesses. I am aware that the role of the accountant is in the process of changing from traditional bean counter to trusted advisor. I also appreciate the disruptive nature of technology and believe that through ethical use, it can unlock unprecedented value for small businesses.
