About Marcy Hess

I’m a higher education professional, advocate, leader, connector, developer, coach and relationship-builder with over 15 years of experience in the field. I enjoy teaching, facilitating career talks, mentoring young talent, developing meaningful partnerships across campus and beyond, connecting like-minded people and contributing to mission-driven organizations. I value collaboration, learning and development, DEIA, community-building and personal / professional development, in particular for marginalized groups and women. I proudly serve as the Senior Director for Strategic Initiatives & External Relations after serving for years as the Director of Campus Partnerships within Career and Professional Development at Loyola Marymount University. In my role, I spearhead and initiate creative and purposeful collaborations between my colleagues in Student Affairs and our various Schools/Colleges and work with Directors of Development, University Advancement officers and other stakeholders to engage parents, community partners, employers and alumni thoughtfully as they seek ways to mentor, recruit and hire our talented students. I get to coach our incredible alumni population as well. In addition to my full-time role, I have a career coaching business, launched in 2008, in which I support professionals in various fields and industries at different stages of their careers. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Cal State Northridge and a Master of Education in Post-Secondary Administration & Student Affairs from the University of Southern California, where I graduated both cum laude.
