About Marek Rom

I discovered my passion for programming at 16, which led me to pursue software development during my studies at the University of Pilsen. Early part-time roles in web development and banking services shaped my foundation, ultimately steering me toward Front-End development. Seeking greater challenges, I relocated to Prague to join Nangu.TV. I started by developing React applications for set-top boxes (e.g, O2 TV) and later transitioned to mobile development using React Native, solidifying my expertise in mobile platforms. In 2019, I joined Memsource as a mobile developer and soon took over as team lead. This role deepened my experience in technical decision-making, product delivery, and strategic planning. It was a rewarding journey until the mobile team was disbanded in 2022, prompting me to take a career break for personal growth and a home renovation project. Afterward, I returned to the industry as a Senior React Developer and Architect at Valatron, where I worked on small to mid-sized projects. These projects allowed me to explore high-scale architecture, maintain cutting-edge technology stacks, and hone my problem-solving skills. Unfortunately, due to the global economic downturn, Valatron ceased operations in March 2024. I then joined ApiTree, where I took on a pivotal project at Česká Spořitelna. My role involves rewriting legacy applications built with JSPs and Angular into modern React-based architectures. This includes developing scalable solutions, designing architectures, mentoring Angular developers in React, designing and improving CI/CD pipelines, and taking ownership for seamless delivery of high-quality applications. Laterly I extended my responsibilities with Kotlin Springboot. About my off-work life: Outside of my professional endeavors, I am a passionate Latin dancer, enjoying styles such as Salsa and Bachata. I also indulge in sci-fi and fantasy literature, as well as self-improvement materials. A devoted coffee enthusiast, I’ve curated a personal coffee-making station at home to perfect my craft.
