About Marek Rozkrut

I am EY Chief Economist for Europe and Central Asia and Head of Economic Analysis for EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India, Africa). With over two decades of experience, I specialize in- macroeconomic and sector forecasting- economic and regulatory impact assessments- measuring the impact of energy, climate, tax, trade and other policies or structural shocks on the economy and selected sectors- measuring the economic footprint of businesses and investment projects, not only at the national level, but also at the local/regional level- augmenting clients’ business forecasting models with macroeconomic variables, for example, to understand how the pandemic's outbreak, government interventions, geopolitical as well as other structural and regulatory changes impact demand for clients’ products- measuring the shadow economy at the country or sector level- analysing tax gap determinants. My data-driven approach incorporates a diverse range of analytical tools and methodologies, ranging from data science techniques such as machine learning to advanced econometric methods, macroeconometric modeling, as well as general equilibrium (e.g. CGE) models. Prior to my role at EY, I held positions as an Assistant Professor at Warsaw School of Economics, Director of Financial Policy, Analyses and Statistics Department at the Ministry of Finance, Head of Foreign Research and Analysis Unit at the central bank, and Chairman of the Polish delegation at the OECD Economic Policy Committee. Throughout my career, I have taken great pride in building and developing teams, nurturing their talent and skills, and empowering them to achieve their full potential. Together we have delivered hundreds of projects in over 50 countries for clients from various sectors. Outside of work, I am a keen runner and mountain climber, with a goal of completing the “7 summits” project (climbing the highest peak of all seven continents) by 2024. Diving is a new passion of mine, allowing me to explore the beauty of the underwater world.
