Background
About Marek Siek
I am a dedicated educator and cultural ambassador with extensive experience in teaching, curriculum development, and international collaboration. I recently completed my service with the Peace Corps in Cambodia, where I worked as an ESL and American Culture Teacher, training secondary school teachers and supporting student learning through innovative teaching strategies. In addition to direct teaching, I served as a Media Committee Member for Peace Corps Cambodia, actively promoting the rich cultural tapestry of the region through various media channels. In this role, I collaborated with volunteers and staff to showcase Khmer culture in the United States while creating a platform for American culture in Cambodia. Before joining the Peace Corps, I honed my teaching skills at Success Academy in New York, where as a World History and Geography Lead Teacher, I creatively designed lessons and managed rigorous academic performance goals. My commitment to educational excellence was also reflected during my internship at The Global Cities, Inc. under Bloomberg Philanthropies, where I contributed to an international digital exchange program, connecting students across the globe. With a solid academic background, I earned a Master of International Affairs from Baruch College's Marxe School, focusing on global education systems. Prior academic endeavors include a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Rzeszów and an American Language Program at Bergen Community College, highlighting my commitment to understanding international political and economic relations. Throughout my career, I have engaged in various roles that emphasize public service and international understanding. I interned with organizations such as the Fulbright Association and the European Parliament, where I contributed to advocacy campaigns and policy development. My diverse experiences are complemented by significant voluntary work and cultural exchanges, including participation in programs in Austria, Mexico, Hungary, and China. Fluent in both English and Polish, with proficiency in Khmer, I embody a global perspective, driven by a passion for history, geography, and the arts. Beyond work, I enjoy swimming, visiting museums, and exploring cultures across the globe, having traveled to more than 40 countries. Currently teaching world history at HD Ningbo, responsible for the new curriculum development within English Department. I continue to inspire students and communities by bridging cultures and promoting the transformative power of education.
