About Marg Wade

I am delighted to be working at Parbery Consulting, with a team of passionate, talented professionals. Parbery's values align with mine, and their principles of authenticity, social responsibility and transparency are principles I subscribe to. I have many years of communications and media experience in both government and private enterprise. Most recently, I was owner/operator of of a successful business, Canberra Secrets Personalised Tours. In 2019, I won some significant awards: • Winner — 2019 Micro Business Award — Canberra Women in Business Awards • Commendation — 2019 Canberra Region Tourism Awards • Winner — 2019 ATEC ACT Branch Captain Trevor Haworth Award — Outstanding contribution by an individual to the Australian Tourism Export Industry A passionate writer and Canberran, I am the author of three editions of a very successful guidebook, ‘Canberra's Secrets — your key to the capital.’ Over copies sold! During 2020, I instigated the ACT Small Tour Operators Collective of around 30 Canberra region tour operators to lobby government about industry issues, providing a means to achieve aligned policies and goals. The Collective is also an important support network for tour operators, providing means to connect, a key source of information and open discussion, and an avenue for maintaining positive mental health especially as a consequence of COVID-19. I also represent the Collective on the Board of the Canberra Region Tourism Leaders Forum - an incorporated membership-based organisation recognised as the peak tourism industry body representing the sectors supporting the visitor economy in the ACT and surrounding region. In 2018, together with Dorothy Barclay, from Forrest Hotel and Apartments, we instigated a regular networking ‘Mini-Tourism-Expo’ to raise awareness, enhance collaboration and cooperation to achieve the best possible experience for visitors to Canberra. This has been most beneficial, especially during COVID-19.
