Background

About Margaret McGrath

I'm an occupational therapist with a PhD in occupational therapy. My current work focuses on parenting in the context of chronic illness and disability. I work with parents who are trying to manage the demands of family life while living with fatigue, pain, cogntive challenges, or flucutating health conditions. Many of the parents I work with are doing everything they can to keep going, but are becoming increasingly exhuasted, overwhelmed, and unsure how to sustain daily life. Through my work, I focus on helping parents find a way to manage parenting that actually works with their capacity, rather than constantly pushing beyond it. I am also the editor of an upcoming textbook on parenting in occupational therapy, reflecting my broader interest in how this area is understood within the profession.
