About Margie Jones

With over ten years of experience in finance and business analysis, I am currently pursuing my passion for psychology as a research assistant at Australian Catholic University (ACU). I am completing my Bachelor of Psychological Science Honours, where my thesis investigated the patient perspectives on reducing symptoms and increasing well-being in individuals with hoarding disorder. The five main themes were interconnection, insight, cognition and behaviour change, emotion regulation, and individual motivation, with the umbrella theme of filling the void. I am particularly interested in person-centred counselling and am eager to learn dialectical behaviour therapy and apply it to help individuals with hoarding disorder. I apply my analytical and business skills to collect, process, and interpret data and communicate and present findings to various stakeholders. I am eager to learn from and contribute to the ACU community and the broader field of abnormal psychology. I value curiosity, collaboration, and social justice, and I aim to use my knowledge and skills to make a positive difference in the world.
