About Maria Coupe

An enthusiastic HR professional with a background in Psychology and Business Administration. I find HR engaging, rewarding, and challenging enough to keep me on my toes. During my 15 years in the higher education industry I have become specialized in the following areas: All Major Benefits (Medical, Dental, Life, LTD, 403b, WC, STD), Unemployment, FMLA, HRIS Administration, Annual Salary Increases, Payroll, Training, Federal Work Study, Event Planning, On-Boarding, ADA, Policy review and creation. Since 2011’s DCL I have been involved in the oversight and compliance of TIX. As Director of Strategic Services I partner with the chief administrators at the College to ensure a workplace that is engaging, rewarding and fun, and of course high performing and successful at executing priorities. I provide guidance and coaching when needed, or help with writing and presenting proposals. Pushing a high performance culture means I follow up and through, and I don’t shy away from having the difficult conversations when needed. I’m a huge believer in both positive and constructive feedback, and think without it you are doing a disservice to both the institution and the employee. I love that my role allows me to work across the entire span of the institution, and therefore, can have the macro and micro view of all areas which enables me to move the college forward in sync. Higher Ed is faced with challenging times, but I thrive on creating solutions for difficult problems with a great team!
