About Maria-Graciela Delgado

I am a bichemist from Chile. I worked during all my studies as a instructor of chemistry, I did Master studies in Biochemistry where I had the opportunity to work during one year in a clinical laboratory inside public hospital in Santiago de Chile. After, I did a PhD in the Universidad de Chile, Faculty of Medicine, working on Drosophila brain metabolism, where I described the first lactate/pyruvate transporter identified in the fly's brain. In 2017, I moved to France, and for the past five years I have been working at Institut Curie, where I have study the role of actin cytoskeleton in the development of the myeloid compartment, specifically a subpopulation of immune cells that reside in the skin referred to as Langerhans cells in the murine model. I have participated in several collaborations during these years, mainly because of my expertise in microfluidic's that allow me to study cell migration in micro fabricated devices (microchannels). I also recently published a review in Frontiers of Dev Biol, on the role of cell migration in myeloid compartment development and also a chapter of a book in Macropinocytosis, which is a feature of migrating cells (funny name: Macropinocytosis; don't drink and drive). Currently, I am working in the publication of my postdoc results. As you can imagine my background is very broad, but still there is much more to discover and today, I am open to start a new challenge!
