Maria is a solicitor specialising in commercial property, development funding and high value residential property, as well as alcohol and entertainment licensing, She graduated with a Fine Art degree from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and finished her legal studies at the College of Law in Chancery Lane, London. Maria trained at Field Fisher Waterhouse and was an associate in the Real Estate Department at Baker & McKenzie. Maria also handles a diverse range of Commercial Property work, with a particular interest in licensed property. She deals the sale and acquisition of restaurants, pubs, clubs and cafes. She also handles a range of landlord and tenant matters including leases of shops, industrial units, offices, studios and galleries. She acts for landlords, tenants, lenders, investors and developers. She also advises on the complex area of leasehold enfranchisement and high value residential property, often acting for high net worth individuals and overseas investors. She is also a specialist Licensing lawyer, handling the whole range of applications under the Licensing Act 2003, including premises licences, personal licences and temporary events notices, together with regulatory and criminal matters relating to licensing such as prosecutions, objections, hearings, appeals and reviews. Maria has written for publications such as Legal Week, Solicitors Journal and The Publican, has been quoted in the press and has appeared on TV, commenting on the attempted fraudulent sale of the Ritz Hotel. She is a keen social networker. She takes a pro-active and no-nonsense approach to all transactions, which is highly valued by her clients.
