About Maria Knadel

With a strong background in soil science and spectroscopy, I work at the intersection of research, technology, and innovation to support sustainable land use and agriculture. My expertise spans Vis-NIR, FTIR, and LIBS spectroscopy, with a focus on developing methods, models, and data-driven tools for soil characterization. I’m passionate about bridging data, people, and purpose—from instruments and digital infrastructure to building capacity through training and collaborative projects. My work supports both academic inquiry and practical application, bridging disciplines and engaging with researchers, and stakeholders to address global challenges in agriculture and environmental sustainability, promoting the real-world application of scientific insight. Alongside my work at the university, I support research integration and dissemination in a geopark context. I map and curate scientific projects to build an overview of ongoing research, foster knowledge exchange, and translate scientific insights into accessible stories. By leading the scientific advisory board and engaging with researchers in Denmark and across geoparks worldwide, I help ensure that science contributes meaningfully to education, public engagement, and future dissemination efforts across the geopark. Expertise: proximal sensing, NIRS, MIR, LIBS, project leading and management, global research, research communication and dissemination, international policy support and capacity building.
