About Maria Lam

With over 15 years of experience in the advertising and film industry, Maria currently manages International Sales at SKOOP Media. She most recently headed Communications & PR at ROSE stories, ARTIS Royal Zoo and the Netherlands Film Fund. Prior to that, she co-founded Amsterdam Film Week and Amsterdam Series Weekend, while freelancing in the field of entertainment Marketing and PR, a.o. at International Film Festival Rotterdam, Eye Filmmuseum and Cineart. She started her career in PR at A-Film distribution Benelux' largest independent film distributor, after which she went on to head Warner Bros. Pictures International Holland's publicity department. She was responsible for publicity campaigns of numerous award-winning independent films and blockbusters in the Netherlands (Harry Potter, Black Swan, 127 Hours, The Hangover, Ice Age and Avatar). Maria loves great storytelling and writing. She is a published author and has (co)written the Dutch version of the bestseller Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls. Her most personal project to date is the cook and story book Maancake & Jasmijn, about Chinese mums and daughters living in The Netherlands. It sold over copies in The Netherlands alone. Maria is a proud Chinese daughter herself.
