Recreation Therapist at Alberta Hospital, working casual to support units as needed. Also previously worked in a permanent 0.5 in the Acquired Brain Injury Unit at Capital Care Norwood since December of 2023 and recently was transferred to a temporary 0.6 position at the CHOICE Norwood Adult Day program. Relevant experience working in inpatient psychiatry for a year in St. Paul as well as volunteering and completing TR placements in Addictions and Mental Health Settings. Relevant experience in senior’s health and dementia care as, a TA for four and a half years in Long Term Care (LTC), Designated Supportive Living (DSL), Designated Supportive Living for Dementia (DSL4D) in rural Northern Alberta serving a wide variety of clientele. Completed a 560 hour internship in residential addictions treatment working with clients with concurrent substance, mood and or psychotic disorders in Fort McMurray in the fall and early winter of 2020. Experience in assessment, discharge planning and documentation. Developed an eight-session art program to be implemented in the Fort McMurray Recovery Centre in the absence of the Recreation Therapist. Passed the NCTRC exam on July 25th of 2021. Always looking for further learning opportunities in the field of TR. On my way to a new role in the towns of Daysland, Galahad & Hardisty Alberta. Will be overseeing the rehab beds in Daysland as well as the Supportive Living and Long Term care residents in the neighbouring communities in the Central Zone of Alberta. Starting this role of my late pug’s 8th birthday and believe this is fate!
