About Maria Stratan

Maria Stratan is an experienced Project Coordinator with a demonstrated history of working in the non-profit organizations industry. She is skilled in Project Management, Project Development, Grant Administration and Monitoring, and Proposal Writing. Maria is a strong believer in open and free societies and has been involved in various national and international activities. She is passionate about leadership development and advocates for a more active civic engagement of young people in their communities. Her current position as a Program Coordinator allows Maria to serve as a liaison with policing, education, and local representatives in promoting the legal socialization of young people in pilot schools and communities. Maria is proud that she contributed to introducing a new pilot course “Education for Legal Socialization” in the school curriculum based on a unique teaching approach represented by joint teaching teams made up of police officers and teachers in the classroom. At the moment, the discipline is being taught in over 100 Moldovan schools at the gymnasium and high school level in 17 regions of the country. Previously, she worked for five years at the Institute for Public Policy in Moldova, where she coordinated and supported various projects in the field of good governance, civil society, community policing, community development, human rights, non-discrimination, gender equality, youth empowerment, and participation. Maria holds a Master of Laws LL.M in Comparative Law, Economics and Finance from the International University College of Turin and Università Degli Studi di Torino (Turin, Italy) and a B.S. in Finance and Banking from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova. Maria is an Alumna of various international educational programs, including the Open Society Foundations, the International Labour Organization Summer School on Gender Economics and Society, the Swedish Institute Summer Academy for Young Professionals, the Council of Europe School of Political Studies, the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University Summer School and the German Marshall Fund.
