About Mariah Cooley

The University of Chicago’s Community Violence Intervention Leadership Academy is a first-of-its-kind education program specifically designed to develop the leadership skills of leaders from across the nation who oversee community-based organizations working to reduce gun violence in our most vulnerable communities. Drawing on my educational foundation from Howard University, I guide the development of the program’s curriculum to ensure it reflects the most effective and impactful learning practices for our students. Serving as a Board Member for March For Our Lives, we've mobilized thousands through impactful marches and revised strategic frameworks to guide our organization. My role encompasses fundraising, partnership cultivation, and steering the Finance, Development, and Governance Committees. Committed to fostering an equitable society, I leverage my expertise in board administration and nonprofit leadership to enact meaningful change.
