About Mariah Wilder

As a surgical assistant at Raleigh Skin Surgery Center, I support the providers in performing various procedures, such as biopsies, excisions, and skin grafts. I also assist with patient care, documentation, and sterilization. I have gained valuable skills and experience in working with a diverse patient population and a multidisciplinary team. I am also pursuing a Master of Public Health degree at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, with a concentration in Leadership in Practice. I aim to become a medical provider focusing on the social determinants of health affecting marginalized communities. I have a passion for creating equitable health care for everyone, and I aspire to be an advocate for my patients and a partner with key stakeholders in the community. I have demonstrated my commitment to diversity and inclusion through my involvement in various initiatives and events at NC State University, where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. I have also conducted undergraduate research on a new form of cancer treatment using synthesis chemistry, which enhanced my critical thinking and communication skills.
