About Mariam Sharp

For over twenty years, I have been involved in delivering ambitious arts projects, concerts, conferences, exhibitions, events and festivals. In April 2010, I formed CulturalSIX to generate opportunities for cultural exchange, as I believe in the vital role that culture plays in creating positive transformations in both people and places. I was a senior manager for the Arts Council England (ACE) for 14 years and worked in the London, national, and South West offices. This has given me a huge national and international network of cultural practitioners that I can draw on to deliver ambitious projects and programmes. My work at ACE also involved education policy, and development of the evaluation frameworks, and creative industries research towards policy development for the south west office. Experienced at cultural policy at local, regional, and national levels, I was on the working group that created Turning Point, the 10-year strategy for the Contemporary Visual Arts, and was also part of the ACE International Strategy group. Experienced in stakeholder engagement I have successfully initiated and negotiated complex projects, and raised over £8M to ensure their delivery. I am experienced at leading large teams and motivating them to deliver on a demanding workload. I also attracted the British Art Show to the south west region twice, firstly in Bristol the success of this led to their confidence to deliver in Plymouth. I also contributed to National ACE literature policy development.
