About Maribeth Janssen

I have a 5+ years experience in finance and accounting, working for government contractors, and 3+ years experience in Sponsored Programs (Pre-Award) within Higher Education. With these combined successful experiences, I now serve as a Grants & Contracts Specialist at Stony Brook University, specifically within the Sponsored Programs Office (Post-Award). Although my current title is a Grants & Contracts Specialist, I primarily serve my institution as a Project Manager focusing on assisting specific departments with the federal and non-federal grant processes. Additionally, in this role, I review, negotiate, and approve terms and conditions for grants and cooperative agreements while adhering to federal laws, regulations, external and internal policies and procedures. Other duties include, but are not limited to, serving as a liaison between the university and the external sponsor regarding non-fiscal research award management, and accepting awards on behalf of the university as an Authorized Organization Representative. I am extremely passionate, with an aim to make a truly meaningful impact, whether it be Higher Education or elsewhere. My calming approach to challenging deadlines and efficient problem solving make it easier to obtain this goal. I have proficiency in many different systems and governmental portals, including Research.gov, NSF FastLane, Grants.gov, eRA Commons, NIH ASSIST, ProposalCentral, IPP, and WAWF.
