Since the beginning of 2018, I have been working as a lecturer in academic literacy at the North West University Potchefstroom campus. Previously, I was employed by the University of Pretoria for six years intermittently in different teaching/ language related positions at the Department of European Languages, the Unit for Academic Literacy and the Translation and Interpreting Studies section. I have experience teaching German and Afrikaans, English and Afrikaans academic literacy and various aspects of translation theory and practice. The latter field represents my main area of expertise. I was also involved with the Humanities Writing Centre at UP as a writing consultant and head writing consultant. My postgraduate studies focused on translation and include a master's degree in applied language studies and a D Litt. et Phil. in Applied Linguistics and Literary Theory. My main research interest currently lies in the field of translation sociology and translation's relationship with power and ideology.
