About Marie Kidd

Marie is a Senior Associate in Spruson & Ferguson’s Chemical and Life Science team. Marie is a Registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney and a Registered Australian Trade Marks Attorney.Marie’s practice involves working with local and international clients in the preparation and prosecution of Australian and New Zealand patent applications. Marie is responsible for a large portfolio of local and foreign patent applications, in which she assists local clients with managing patent protection in jurisdictions such as the United States, Europe, Canada, Brazil and Argentina. Marie has drafted provisional and PCT applications in a diverse range of fields including protein analysis, neuronal stimulation, methods of medical treatment, alloreactivity, electrochemical biosensors and transgenic plants.Prior to joining Spruson & Ferguson, Marie’s scientific research focussed on genetic variation at the human immunoglobulin gene loci. She has experience in bioinformatics, high-throughput sequencing and a range of analytical techniques including fluorescence-activated cell sorting, RT-qPCR, SDS-PAGE, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. Marie’s work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals as well as the Australasian Biotechnology Journal. She has also presented at a number of local and international conferences. In the course of Marie’s studies, she received numerous awards including a University Medal (UNSW Sydney), a place on the Faculty of Science Dean's List for Academic Excellence (UNSW Sydney), Best Performance in Molecular Biology of Proteins (UNSW Sydney), Best Honours Thesis in a Molecular Biology or Genetics major (UNSW Sydney), a UNSW Research Excellence Award (UNSW Sydney) and a place on the Dean’s Merit List for Outstanding Academic Merit in Law (UTS, Sydney).
