About Marie Proffit

I am a Curator, a Cultural Manager and a Producer active in dance and performing arts, and currently the Artistic Director of the international festival STHLM DANS in Stockholm which I co-created with 2 colleagues in 2022. I am French and currently based in Stockholm since 2018 after 7 years in the UK. I have 15 years of experience in developing and delivering national, international and European projects across disciplines, with a focus on dance and performing arts, as well as digital arts and cultural diplomacy. I have long experience of cultural management at European level: I previously was the Cultural Attachée at the Institut Français in Sweden, the Communication Officer for the European dance platform Aerowaves and its festival Spring Forward among others. More recently, I have I led on International Relations at the dance agency Nordberg Movement. As a Curator and a Cultural Producer, I constantly place audience development and engagement through engaging and new formats at the centre of my work. A strong advocate of the role of creativity and diversity in social, cultural and economic change, my expertise is based on bringing together organisations of different scales and sectors around a creative vision to build sustainable partnerships. I am a strategic, driven and pro-active professional, with many years of experience in developing and delivering multi-partner projects, sometimes in complex scenarios and funding situations. I am able to convey a vision with charisma to a team, members and shareholders. I was invited twice by the prime time cultural programme Kulturstudion on national Swedish television SVT as a dance and cultural expert. I am a natural born networker with strong communication and presentation skills.
