Marijke De Couck (PhD in Medical Sciences) is visiting professor at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Odisee University College. Besides her academic work, she is also a relaxation therapist and a certified stresscoach. During her PhD, she investigated the role of the vagus nerve in cancer and has been continuing this line of research over the past years. She focusses on non-medicamentous interventions such as a new wellbeing program (currently being developed) and vagal nerve stimulating techniques such as HRV Biofeedback and transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation. She aims to improve the wellbeing of cancer patients and their caregivers, but is also a relaxation therapist guiding burn-out patients.
