About Marika Tabone

I have worked in the Insurance Industry for six years. During my time working as assistant intermediary controller I have gained experience in compliance, recruiting, training and credit control. Later I moved on the Financial Sector where I started off at a junior role as accounts assistant with a corporate provider. My persistence and hard work helped me to move on to Senior Accounts Executive where I was responsible for a team of junior accountants and wrote financial articles. In my subsequent job as client accountant I also prepared business plans in addition to preparing accounts up to management accountants, submitting VAT Returns and MOSS Returns. I am passionate and hard working and strive to do every job assigned up to me to my best potential. Since three years I have been interested in sustainability and I embarked in Masters course in Education for Sustainable Development with CEER at the University of Malta. I have seen my mindset change from purely economics and financial oriented to a more open an inclusive one where I know am able to see business through and sustainability lens. I have engaged and absorbed educational pedagogies which are targeted at transformational learning. I have made stock of my own values and attitudes and re-invented myself. Sustainability is not a short- term process but needs to be a learned process aided by critical thinking and self-reflection, in order to be significant and long- term. I hope to see sustainability flourish in Malta and would like to connect with like minded people.
