Social Entrepreneur | Systems Thinker | Sustainability Strategist & Designer | Keynote Speaker | TEDx Speaker | Outdoor Lover My personal mission is to help people to take action and actively co-create a regenerative future for ourselves and generations to come. My work has been recognised for an approach that combines systems thinking and design with hands-on building of the actual systems and structures we need to facilitate change, and for inviting people to participate in creating this systemic change. In July 2019, I co-founded "mymizu", Japan's first free refill app and platform with a mission to drastically reduce single-use plastic consumption. We're using the power of community, technology and design to tackle the biggest social and environmental challenges we face today. After years of hearing companies say 'we can't do anything unless consumers change' as an excuse to stick to their old ways, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Now, we're engaging millions of consumers, working with some of the world's biggest brands to create change across industries, and have won awards from global social business competitions, as well as from the Ministry of Environment for our work. Now, I continue to build on my work as an entrepreneur by helping social entrepreneurs tackling complex problems, and help businesses to find creative and authentic ways to integrate sustainability into their core business strategy. From talks and workshops to hands-on consulting and mentoring, I work with talented teams in both Japan and internationally to help companies to step up. I serve in several advisory roles, and as a Council Member for the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Japan.
