About Marilia Cascalho

I am a physician-scientist recently promoted to Professor of Surgery and Professor of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Michigan. I was educated in Medicine at the University of Lisbon and in Immunology and Genetics at the Novo-Nordisk Research Institute (Denmark) and at UCSF (Ph.D, 1998) and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at UCSF in In I was recruited to the Mayo Clinic (Rochester) to serve as faculty in a nascent Transplantation Biology Program. At Mayo, I also served as the first Chair of the Division of Experimental Research in the Department of Surgery. In 2008, I was recruited to launch a new Transplantation Biology program at the University of Michigan. My research is funded by several NIH grants.
