About Mario Carrasco

I'm an IP professional passionate about Intellectual Property and dedicated to helping scientists and companies to protect and commercialize their innovations. With more than 10 years of experience as a biotechnologist in IP, I thrive at the intersection of legal and scientific disciplines. I have worked across patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyright, confidentiality and domain names. In my current job as Head of IP in PhageLab I'm focussing in development and deploying IP strategy, overseeing Patent Landscape analyses, state-of-the-art searches, and patent drafting. I have managed direct filings in Brazil, Chile, and through the PCT, and as an in-house IP professional, I have coordinated numerous biotechnology, microbiology, and AI-based patent families. Additionally, I have experience in implementing IP policies for startups and safeguarding technologies through trade secrets. One of my most significant achievements is analyzing over 300 biotech invention patents in my role as an External Patent Examiner for the Chilean PTO (INAPI). This experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of patent drafting and prosecution, as well as crucial insights into common pitfalls to avoid. I love to work in multidisciplinary teams leading IP professionals.
