Background
About Mario de Florio
I am passionate about applying my interdisciplinary background to address complex problems in physics. With a Master's degree in Energy and Nuclear Engineering, a Ph.D. in Systems & Industrial Engineering, and PostDoc in Applied Mathematics, my research has spanned various fields such as energy systems, numerical analysis, radiative transfer, rarefied-gas dynamics, nuclear reactor dynamics, astrodynamics, chemical kinetics, epidemiology, pharmacokinetics, and systems biology, skilled in multiple programming languages and analysis tools (MATLAB, Python) and machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, Tensorflow, JAX).My main research focus has been developing and applying Physics-Informed Machine Learning frameworks to tackle these challenging problems. I also used remote sensing techniques to estimate parameters for asteroids and meteorites in collaboration with the Planetary Science Institute and the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory.
