About Mario G. Ferrante

Dr. Mario Ferrante was born in Palermo (Italy), August 16, 1968. On July 8, 1991 he graduated in Law at the University of Palermo, with academic honors (110/110 cum laude). In June 1995, he has successfully passed the Italian State Bar examination. On January 11, 1996 he has received the title of "Doctor in Ecclesiastical and Canon Law"(Ph.D.) Since 04 January 2001, he has been working as a researcher of Ecclesiastical and Canon Law, at the Faculty of Law at University of Palermo. On 03 December 2002 he has obtained a doctorate in “Iure Canonico” at the Faculty of Canon Law of the Pontificia Universitas Lateranensis of Rome, with the vote of "Summa cum laude”. From March 20, 1998, after being admitted to the Bar, he has been authorized to practice at the Sicilian Regional Ecclesiastical Court where, besides having the munus of defender of the bond in some trials, he has pleaded as a lawyer in over 500 cases of matrimonial nullity. After attending three years of the curricular course at the Studio of the Roman Rota’s Apostolic Tribunal, excelling in all annual exams, he has obtained a Diploma as Rota Lawyer. On 09 January 2010 he is admitted to the Rota Bar. Since the academic year 2003-2004 he has been appointed as professor of "Ecclesiastical and Canon Law" in various academic classes. Since 2009, he has been tutoring, according to a PhD program, for a "Community Law and National Law: Sources, Organization, Activities” class at the Department of Public Law (IURA), University of Palermo. He is part of the Roman Rota Arcisodalizio (fellowship), and is also an ordinary member of the Italian Canonical Association (ASCAI); and of Consociatio Internationalis Studio Iuris Canonici Promovendo; and of Association of Teachers of ecclesiastical and canon law (ADEC); and of the Canon Law Society of America; and of the Society for Sicilian History. He is also author of many scientific publications.
