About Mario Milinovic

Maybe the best way to describe what I do is to tell you about a project I'm currently working on - helping people fall in love with a simple pair of safety scissors. Sounds strange, right? You bet. Even more so coming from a CEO of a company manufacturing large mixers for chemical industry. At a core, I'm a mechanical engineer with substantial background in development and manufacturing of some pretty "serious stuff". Like new design of human aerial platform. Or concept of mobile factory for prefab concrete panels. Or manufacturing of our heavy duty industrial mixers. Stuff like that. So, one would think my current safety scissors project is a breeze? It's really not. Adding superb safety while making both children and grown ups smile just by glancing over a pair of scissors is by far the most difficult task I've ever had. Really. A challenge requiring that bit more creativeness and ingenuity besides common engineering skills regularly reserved for "serious stuff". Which is exactly why I do it - taking great ideas and turning them into great products is what really drives me. Doing something fulfilling is a reward by itself. However, limits imposed by the real world also require some other qualities to keep new product development on track. Managerial skills of a team leader frequently mediating between people to get things done are surely at the top of my list. But above all it is perseverance in making numerous iterations to get a promising concept off the ground. Having spent last 20 years cooperating with people from different walks of life and making various projects happen I think I've got a pretty good hold of those things. Of course,one would be right to think my life-work balance is somewhat tipped towards work. And I'm thankful I have a supportive family seeing nothing wrong with that. Connect and stay tuned!
