About Marione Ann Foo

Marione Anne Foo holds a Bachelor of Science in Education (TESL) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). Her teaching journey began at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Campus, where she contributed as a language staff member. In 2011, she joined Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus as a language lecturer. Since then, she has taught various levels of the Intensive English (IE) course, specializing in reading and writing, as well as all levels of English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Additionally, she teaches Foundation English and Academic Research Reading and Writing for Foundation Studies and actively contributes to short courses such as the English Enhancement Program (EEP). Marione is passionate about helping students transition smoothly from secondary school to tertiary education. She takes pride in creating inclusive teaching materials that celebrate students’ individuality and cater to their diverse needs. With a collaborative mindset, she values working with colleagues across disciplines, recognizing that every role contributes to a meaningful and enriching educational experience. Her research interests include tertiary transition programs, English language engagement, curriculum design, and quality assurance. She is particularly drawn to exploring ESL classroom dynamics, innovative teaching methodologies, and integrating digital tools into language learning to boost student engagement and outcomes.
